Biographical summary
Taxiarchis Kourelis, M.D., is an associate professor of medicine at Mayo Clinic. He received his medical degree from the University of Athens Medical School in Greece and completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Connecticut. He then pursued a fellowship in hematology and oncology at Mayo Clinic, followed by an advanced fellowship in myeloma, amyloidosis and dysproteinemia disorders. He is board certified in medical oncology, hematology and advanced cardiovascular life support.
Dr. Kourelis has received several honors and awards, including the ASH Clinical Research Training Institute Scholarship, the Mayo Myeloma SPORE Career Enhancement Award, and the Mayo Benefactor Career Development Award.
Dr. Kourelis research interests include multiple myeloma, rare dysproteinemias, amyloidosis, immune microenvironment and amyloid proteomics. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Blood, Leukemia, Mayo Clinic Proceedings and Journal of Clinical Oncology.
